I don't have time today to write the significance of this walk. Here are the photos I took.

Photos around North Hollywood Station

These are some photos I took around the North Hollywood station with an older photo from the red car. Also, there are some explanations for the names of streets.

What remains of Old Van Nuys

If you click on this link, you'll see a representation of old Van Nuys Blvd. From what I have read on local blogs and in books, Van Nuys' heyday was from the '40s to the mid '80s. With the advent of the regional malls (roughly in the '60s), shoppers stopped going to Van Nuys Blvd for shopping. When I was a kid, most of this still remained. In retrospect, I saw the tail-end of Van Nuys being in this state. Today, I found a few of the old remnants from that time.

The book store survives because the owner of the book store also owns the property, so there is no rent. Thus, he can operate on a smaller margin. Bargain books address is: 14426 Friar St, Van Nuys, CA 91401. Phone number is:(818) 782-2782. I have no clue about the elks club next store. Does anyone?
